SwiftDuck makes recommendations on cycles and rest based on physiology and prevailing science.

Sometimes however, coaches want to do things different.  This can be for variety, simplicity, challenges, just about any reason.

You may begin to customize cycles a few easy ways.  If you would like to add a simple rest interval, lets say :20 seconds rest instead of the recommended, simply type 20 in the rest interval box.

Done.

Now when you write a set or share it, it will come through with :20 rest in the workout report.

As you share, the goal paces and times will still continue to adjust however for the individual.

Choosing to do a Custom Cycle is just as easy.  Perhaps you are doing a test set of 6 x 100 on 10:00.  That is not a normal recommendation of cycle, so you would go to the custom cycle input box and type in 10:00.  cc

Now in the above example, the 10:00 would continue to adjust to faster or slower swimmers if needed.  If you want to “Lock” a set so that it does not try to adjust to different swimmers, simply check the “set required” box.

By doing this, the set will not modify for even the fastest or slowest of swimmers.
